Choresday

Effective Date: October 5, 2026 · Last Updated: October 9, 2026

The Short Version

  • No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
  • If you use Choresday on your own without a household, your chores stay on your phone.
  • If you create or join a household, your household's chores and activity are stored on our sync service so the people you invite can see them.
  • Choresday has no camera features and never uses your location.
  • Kids are identified only by a first name or nickname a parent chooses. Parents can review, export, and erase their child's data.

Who We Are

Choresday is developed by Nectar Mobile Development ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Choresday Android app ("the App") and its optional household sync service.

Without a Household

If you use Choresday on your own ("Just me") and never create or join a household, your chores, schedules, completions, streaks, and settings are stored only on your phone. The App does not send them anywhere. Choresday data is excluded from Android's device backup and device-to-device transfer. If you export a CSV file to a place you choose, that copy goes where you sent it, and we never see it.

With a Household

When you create or join a household, the following are sent to and stored on our household sync service (sync.nectarmobile.dev):

  • Display names (for example, "Mom" or "Sam"), which other members of your household can see.
  • Your household's chore records: chores and schedules, completions, claims, approvals and rejections (with their reasons), household settings, and nudges and rings between members.
  • If your household turns on the allowance tracker: points and money balances, allowance settings, savings goals, rewards, and reward requests. These are records only. Choresday never moves money.
  • Phone details your household needs: each phone's manufacturer and model (for example, "Google Pixel 7", never the name you gave your phone), whether ringing is allowed, whether notifications and full-screen alerts are permitted, whether battery optimisation restricts the App, and the phone's own quiet hours, so household members can see whether a nudge or ring will get through.
  • A device token that identifies your phone to the service and, if your phone has Google Play services, a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can deliver nudges, rings, and household notifications. To deliver those messages, Firebase also creates an installation identifier for the App on your phone and registers it with Google's Firebase Installations service. The App deletes it when your phone leaves or is removed from the household, and it is gone when you uninstall the App.

We use this information only to provide the household features: keeping each phone in your household in sync and delivering nudges, rings, and notifications. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone outside your household except the service providers listed below. Only people invited to your household with a one-time join code can see your household's data.

Nudges and Rings

When an adult nudges or rings another member, the message is delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. It carries identifiers and the sender's display name, never chore details or other household data. The receiving phone looks up the chore itself. On the lock screen, a ring shows only "Choresday: ring" until the phone is unlocked. A phone rings only if ringing has been allowed for it: adults choose this for their own phones, and a parent chooses it for a child's phone.

Service Announcements

We may occasionally send a short service notice to the App (for example, planned maintenance or an important update) through Firebase Cloud Messaging. These notices are the same for everyone and carry no personal data.

Server Logs

To run and protect the sync service, our server keeps short technical logs of each request: the time, the network (IP) address it came from, the address requested, the result, and internal identifiers for the phone and household. The logs are size-limited and overwritten automatically, usually within days. We use them only to operate and secure the service, never for advertising or profiling. Our server also checks which country a connection comes from, using its network address, to block regions we don't serve; that country is not stored with your data.

Service Providers

  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase Installations deliver nudges, rings, and notifications to your phone. They see the installation identifier and, on nudges and rings, the sender's display name, but no chore details.
  • GitHub. When the App opens, and when syncing fails repeatedly, it reads a public status file from raw.githubusercontent.com to show maintenance notices or tell you whether our service is down. No information about you is sent. GitHub sees only your IP address, as with any web request.

All network traffic between the App and these services uses HTTPS.

What We Do Not Collect

  • No email address, phone number, or password
  • No photos, and no camera or photo-library access
  • No GPS or location permission, and no location tracking (see "Server Logs" for the country check)
  • No advertising identifier, analytics, or crash-reporting data
  • No contacts, messages, or browsing history
  • No bank, card, or payment information. Allowance amounts are numbers you type in, nothing more.

Bug Reports and Feature Requests

Adults can send us a bug report or feature request from the App. The report contains what you type, the App version, and any contact details you choose to include, and we use it only to respond and improve the App. Kids' phones do not offer this screen.

Children

Choresday is designed for households, including households with children. We collect as little as possible about children:

  • No child accounts. A child's phone joins only with a one-time code that a parent creates. The code already contains the child's display name, so the child never types a name; at most, the short code is typed in if it isn't scanned.
  • A first name or nickname only. The parent chooses it, and the App rejects names that look like email addresses, web addresses, or phone numbers. We do not collect a child's real name, email, phone number, birthdate, age, gender, school, location, contacts, or photos.
  • No free text from children. Kids' phones offer only buttons and fixed choices, never a text box.
  • What we keep about a child: the display name, a preset avatar, their chore and reward activity, and the phone details described above.
  • Parents are in control. A parent can review a child's history, export it, erase the child from the household, or delete the whole household at any time, as described below.

A parent or guardian with questions about their child's information can contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

Erasing a Person

A household admin can erase a child or a non-admin adult from the household, and any adult can erase their own data. Erasing removes the person's records from every phone in the household and from our service, removes their display name from our service, and disconnects their phones. What remains afterwards: content-free placeholders that let other phones know a record was deleted, internal identifiers with no names attached, and an entry in our internal log that an erasure happened (who asked, when, and how many records, with no content). Copies in our service backups expire on their normal schedule. Every adult in the household can see that an erasure took place.

How Long We Keep Data

  • While you use a household: your household's records are kept on our service so every phone stays in sync. When two phones change the same record at once, the losing change is kept for 30 days so an admin can review it, then deleted.
  • Leave a household: your phone is disconnected and its copy of the household's data is removed. Records you created stay with the household unless you also erase your data.
  • Delete a household (admins): access ends immediately for everyone, and the household's data is permanently erased from our service within 30 days.
  • End of the App's supported life: if we discontinue Choresday, we will post a notice on this website at least 90 days ahead, and then delete the data held by our sync service. Data on your phone is not affected. See the Terms & Conditions.
  • Data on your phone: remove it by uninstalling the App.
  • Export: admins can export the household's chore history to CSV files at any time, and the points and money records while the allowance tracker is switched on.

Security

Your device token is stored encrypted on your phone using Android's keystore, and Choresday data is never included in backups. Our service stores only a hash of each device token and join code. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and post the new policy on this page.
