Introduction
SweepDroid is developed by Nectar Mobile Development. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection and use. The short version: we don't collect any of your data.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information or user data.
SweepDroid runs entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that collect, store, or process your information. The app does not contain advertising, does not track your usage, does not collect analytics, and does not transmit your files, photos, app list, or any personal data to us or any third party.
How the App Works
SweepDroid scans your device to show you, in plain language, what is using up your storage—photos, videos, music, apps, and other files. Everything the app reads is processed on your device and shown only to you. None of it is uploaded anywhere.
When you choose to delete photos or videos, or uninstall an app, SweepDroid hands that action to Android's own built-in confirmation dialog. Nothing is ever deleted without you confirming it on a standard Android system screen. Your files are deleted on your device; copies are never sent to us.
The One Network Connection
To help flag apps that are commonly considered junk or bloatware, SweepDroid downloads a public, community-maintained list of app names from a public GitHub repository (the "Universal Android Debloater" list). This is a one-way download of a public file.
No information about you, your device, or the apps you have installed is ever sent in this request. The list is downloaded, cached on your device for offline use, and compared against your installed apps locally. If the download fails or you are offline, the app falls back to a small list that ships inside the app and continues to work.
Data Storage
Any preferences and the cached junk-app list are stored locally on your device only. This information never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app through your device settings.
Third-Party Services
SweepDroid does not use any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or data collection tools. The app is distributed through the Google Play Store, which has its own privacy policy and data collection practices independent of SweepDroid.
Permissions
SweepDroid requests certain Android permissions to function. None of these permissions are used to collect, store, or transmit your personal data to us or any third party. Everything stays on your device.
Photos & Media Access
- Read Media – Images, Video, Audio (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO): On Android 13 and later, these let SweepDroid measure how much space your photos, videos, and music take up, and show you thumbnails so you can review and delete the items you choose. Your media is read on the device only and is never uploaded.
- Read External Storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): The equivalent permission used on Android 12 and older for the same purpose. (Not requested on newer Android versions.)
SweepDroid does not request "All Files Access" (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). When you delete photos or videos, the deletion is confirmed through Android's own system dialog.
Usage Access (Optional)
- Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): A special permission you grant in your device's Settings. It lets SweepDroid show the real amount of space each app uses and when you last opened it, so you can spot apps you no longer use. This is optional—if you don't grant it, the app still works using estimated app sizes. The usage information is read on the device only and is never transmitted.
App Management
- Request Delete Packages (REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES): Allows SweepDroid to ask Android to uninstall an app you choose. The actual uninstall is always confirmed by you on Android's standard uninstall dialog. SweepDroid cannot and does not remove apps silently.
To show you the apps on your device, SweepDroid lists apps that have a launcher icon (the apps you can normally open). It does not request the broad "query all packages" permission.
Network
- Internet (INTERNET): Used only to download the public junk-app list described above. The app contains no ads and no analytics, and sends no personal data over the internet.
All permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and not for data collection of any kind.
Children's Privacy
Because we do not collect any data, SweepDroid does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages from a privacy perspective.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect any data about you, there is no data for you to access, modify, or delete from our systems. All app data is stored locally on your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the app or clearing the app's data through your device settings.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our data collection practices, we will update this Privacy Policy and update the "Last Updated" date. Any changes will be posted on this page. We recommend checking this page periodically for any updates.
