Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using PhoneHome ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
PhoneHome is developed and distributed by Nectar Mobile Development ("we," "us," or "our"). These terms govern your use of the App and the household sync service it connects to (together, "the Service").
Purchases
If you purchased PhoneHome, your purchase gives you a license to use the App, including its online features, for the supported life of the application: for as long as Nectar Mobile Development continues to support and distribute PhoneHome. "Supported life" refers to the life of the App, not to the life of the purchaser or of any particular device. Purchases are made through Google Play, and refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policies and any rights you have under applicable law.
Nectar Mobile Development is an independent, single-developer operation. We may end support for, stop distributing, or decommission the App at any time, at our sole discretion, for any reason — including that continuing it is no longer commercially viable. The section below describes exactly what happens in that case.
Online Services and How Long They Last
PhoneHome depends on online services that we operate, together with Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, to ring and locate phones. Without these services, the App cannot ring or locate any phone.
We will provide these online services for as long as we continue to support the App. If we decide to discontinue PhoneHome:
- We will post a notice on this website at least 90 days before the online services end. Decommission notices are posted on this website (nectarmobile.dev), not inside the App. Check this website for the App's current status.
- After that date, ringing, locating, and household features will stop working, and the data held by our sync service will be deleted.
Discontinuing the online services at the end of the App's supported life does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund, except where required by law or by Google Play's policies.
The online services may also be changed, or be briefly unavailable for maintenance or because of problems outside our control.
License to Use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PhoneHome on Android devices you own or control, for its intended purpose: helping the members of a household ring and find each other's phones.
You may:
- Install and use the App on devices you own or control, as Google Play permits
- Create a household or join one with a code from its admin
- Ring and locate phones in your household whose users have joined it
You may not:
- Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices from the App
- Use the App for any illegal purposes
- Distribute or sell the App to others
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or to another household's data
Acceptable Use — Please Read Carefully
Only add phones whose users have agreed to be part of your household. Each phone must install the App and join the household itself. You must not install the App on, or join to your household, a phone belonging to someone who has not agreed to share its location with your household, except a child's phone that you are legally responsible for as a parent or guardian.
You must not use PhoneHome to:
- Stalk, harass, threaten, or intimidate anyone
- Covertly monitor or track any person, or track a person without their knowledge and consent
- Locate or follow someone who does not want to be located, including a former partner or household member
- Violate any law, including laws on privacy, surveillance, and location tracking
You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to your use of the App.
Households
The person who creates a household is its admin. Admins can invite people with the admin, member, or kid role, using a one-time join code. If you are a household admin, you are responsible for:
- Sharing join codes only with people who should be part of your household
- Inviting a child's phone only if you are that child's parent or legal guardian, and choosing a first name or nickname for them
- Removing members and devices that should no longer have access, such as a lost phone or someone who has moved out
- Understanding that deleting the household ends access for every member immediately, and that its data is permanently erased from our live database after 30 days (nightly backup copies age out within about a further 30 days)
Everyone in a household can see each household phone's last known location and battery status.
No Guarantee a Phone Can Be Found or Rung
We cannot guarantee that any phone can be rung or located. For PhoneHome to work, the phone must be powered on and connected to the internet, must have the App installed and joined to your household, and must have the required permissions granted (such as location, notifications, and Do Not Disturb access). Location may be unavailable, out of date, or inaccurate. Some phone manufacturers' battery managers can stop or delay the App even when it is set up correctly, and push message delivery depends on services outside our control.
Not an Emergency Service
PhoneHome is not an emergency service and must not be relied on for personal safety. It is not a substitute for contacting emergency services. If you or someone else is in danger, or a person is missing, call your local emergency number (such as 911 in the United States) immediately.
AS-IS Warranty Disclaimer
PHONEHOME IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We do not warrant that:
- The App or the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
- Defects will be corrected
- The App will meet your specific requirements
- Any phone can be rung or located, or that locations shown will be accurate or current

We make no guarantees beyond the functionality described in the App's listing on the Google Play Store.
Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Using the App only with phones whose users have agreed to it

- Compliance with any applicable laws regarding location sharing and your use of the App
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NECTAR MOBILE DEVELOPMENT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:
- Your use or inability to use the App or the Service
- A phone that could not be rung or located, or a lost or stolen phone that was not recovered
- Inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable location or battery information
- Any misuse of the App by a member of your household or any other person
- The end of the online services at the end of the App's supported life
- Any other matter relating to the App
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App, if any.
Privacy
How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Updates and Modifications
We may update the App from time to time to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance. Updates are provided through the Google Play Store. Ending the App's online services is governed by the "Online Services and How Long They Last" section above.
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by leaving your household and uninstalling it from your device. Your license terminates automatically if you violate these Terms, and we may suspend access to the Service for any household or device we reasonably believe is being used in violation of these Terms.
Intellectual Property
PhoneHome and all related trademarks, logos, and branding are the property of Nectar Mobile Development. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except for the limited license to use the App as described above.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Nectar Mobile Development operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Nectar Mobile Development regarding the use of PhoneHome.
Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and post the new Terms on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
